Riyadh: Saudi Arabia reported that its air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed multiple drones launched from Iraq, aimed at the kingdom's oil facilities in the Eastern Province and the capital. The Saudi Defense Ministry disclosed that these drones were launched by Iran-backed armed groups operating within Iraq.
According to Deutsche Welle, the ministry confirmed that the attempted attacks were neutralized before any damage could occur.
Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry condemned the incident, emphasizing the kingdom's right to respond to the sources of the "aggression" and deter those responsible. The statement highlighted the kingdom's determination to protect its sovereignty and infrastructure.
Additionally, Riyadh urged the Iraqi government to prevent the use of its territory for launching attacks against Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Foreign Ministry called on Baghdad to implement all necessary measures to halt such operations, reinforcing the importance of regional stability and cooperation in countering these threats.
