The Kingdom was represented at the fourth meeting of the G20 Women's Empowerment Working Group, held in Brasília, Brazil, on October 8 and 9, 2024. The delegation was led by Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council Dr. Maimouna bint Khalil Al Khalil. The meeting, themed "Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet," focused on key priorities including gender equality, combating violence and discrimination, and addressing climate justice. Participants reviewed and discussed policies aimed at supporting women, highlighting indicators that promote empowerment across G20 nations. Dr. Al Khalil's participation emphasized the significant advancements in the Kingdom's development efforts, particularly the notable increase in women's participation in the labor market, which surpassed 35.4% in 2024. She also highlighted the adoption of a national policy in 2023 aimed at promoting equal opportunities and treatment in employment and professional settings.
