King Fahad University Hospital in Al-Khobar has made significant advancements in shoulder surgery, as detailed in a recent study presented at the 31st European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and the Elbow (SECEC) Congress, held in Munich between September 4 and 6. The Chairman of the Orthopedic Surgery Department, Dr. Saad AlQahtani, shared the findings of a study on rotator cuff repairs in over 300 patients. The study revealed a higher prevalence of combined tears involving the subscapularis, the largest and strongest muscle of the rotator cuff, and the supraspinatus, a small muscle on the back of the shoulder that is part of the rotator cuff. This research, the only one presented from the Arab world at the SECEC Congress, highlights the Kingdom's growing expertise in medical research.
