Tehran: Director General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry's Human Rights and Women's Affairs Department, Marzieh Afkham, has openly criticized a recent resolution by the European Parliament concerning the status of women in Iran. She labeled it as interventionist and politically motivated, highlighting Iran's dynamic progress in women's roles across various sectors. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Afkham condemned the resolution for being biased. She emphasized the significant involvement of women in Iran's social, economic, and political spheres, supported by increasing statistics and thorough documentation. Afkham argued that such resolutions cannot undermine the positive developments in women's participation within the Islamic Republic of Iran. Afkham also addressed the global outcry, particularly in Europe, concerning their governments' support for a regime accused of crimes against humanity, noting the impact on women and children in Gaza. She criticized the European Parliament for ignoring p ublic protests against Israel's actions and for maintaining a biased approach in its resolutions. In her statement, Afkham called out the political motivations behind such resolutions, arguing that the European Parliament's misrepresentation of Iran's social developments is misguided. She urged the European institution to align with public opinion by condemning the violence against Palestinians and advocating for accountability of the Zionist regime's leaders.
