Tehran Hosts Quadrilateral Meeting on Regional Peace and Security

Tehran:A quadrilateral meeting in Tehran has been hailed as a critical opportunity to advance dialogue on regional peace and security, according to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The meeting, which included participation from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey, focused on promoting sustained cooperation through confidence-building, mutual respect for sovereignty, and practical commitments.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi highlighted the significance of the agreement to continue consultations among the participating nations. He emphasized that turning this diplomatic opportunity into lasting cooperation would depend on reaching consensus on common principles, implementing confidence-building measures, respecting countries' sovereignty, and making concrete commitments.

Araghchi articulated Iran's perspective that sustainable regional security should be achieved through the involvement of regional countries, without the military presence or interference of extra-regional powers. He stressed the importance of regional responsibility in shaping the future and countering the Israeli regime's hostile actions to protect national independence and sovereignty and prevent the expansion of war.

The meeting, held on Monday afternoon, November 26, 2026, included senior officials such as Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council; Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman; Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir; and Ibrahim Kalin, head of Turkey's intelligence service. Araghchi reiterated that neighboring countries remain Iran's priority in regional security efforts.
