Sistan: A member of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has been martyred in a terrorist attack in southeastern Iran. The IRGC's Public Relations Office of Iran's northern province of Golestan issued a statement on Monday, confirming the martyrdom of Vahid Akbarian. Akbarian, hailing from the northern county of Gorgan, was actively serving in the IRGC Ground Forces. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Vahid Akbarian lost his life in a terror attack on Monday in Saravan county, located in the restive southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan. The region has been a hotspot for frequent clashes between security forces and various armed groups. Brigadier General Ahmad Shafaei, the spokesman for the 'Martyrs of Security' drills, announced that IRGC forces had successfully neutralized 23 terrorists and captured 46 others during recent operations in the southeastern part of the country. These operations are part of ongoing efforts to secure the border areas. Security and police personnel in Si stan and Baluchestan regularly conduct operations to thwart terror plots and intercept arms and drugs smuggled by terrorist factions and other groups. The province's strategic location makes it a critical area for maintaining national security.
