Tehran: The Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL) under the current administration has made significant strides in addressing its needs and bolstering self-reliance in technological advancements, as highlighted by an analysis from the Islamic Republic News Agency.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the ministry has excelled across numerous domains including aerospace, maritime, missile technology, electronics and optics, engineering, geographical mapping, new energies, and welfare services. These accomplishments, particularly in producing and deploying advanced defense products in aerospace, have positioned Iran as a regional pioneer and among a select group of countries globally with such capabilities. The achievements largely stem from the administration’s focused programs and activities over the past year.
The IRNA analysis underscores the role of the Armed Forces Social Security Organization in initiating the Smart Health Information System, a comprehensive database for medicine prescription and distribution, which includes a tracking code to curb illegal prescriptions. In its first year, the Ministry of Defense has also played a crucial role in natural disaster management, establishing an aerial firefighting control and support center, notably combating a massive fire at Shahid Rajaee Port.
One notable achievement during President Masoud Pezeshkian’s tenure is the clearing of over 2,510 hectares of land contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance from the Iraq-imposed war in the 1980s, across five provinces. The ministry also reported an 87 percent increase in the production of defense-related products, such as ballistic missiles, combat and reconnaissance drones, and the overhaul of tactical and floating vehicles.
Further advancements include enhancing capabilities to counter electronic warfare and improving the quality of warfare components and services. The IRNA analysis mentions the development of the Khorramshahr-4 liquid-fueled ballistic missile as a deterrence measure, along with expanded satellite launch capacity and the design, manufacturing, and upgrading of various aircraft and helicopters within the one-year period of the current administration.
