The International Court of Justice announced that it will express its opinion on the legal consequences related to Israeli measures in the Palestinian territories on July 19. A record number of 52 countries submitted defenses and arguments before the court in February to reveal the legal consequences of Israel's actions in the Palestinian territories, after the UN General Assembly in 2022 requested the court's advice, which is a non-binding opinion. The court said, in a statement, that it 'will issue its advisory opinion regarding the legal consequences arising from Israel's policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Al-Quds.' The statement explained that "the court will hold a session at three o'clock in the afternoon local time at Al-Salam Palace in The Hague (the court's headquarters), during which Judge Nawaf Salam, president of the court, will read the advisory opinion." Although Israel has ignored such opinions in the past, the court's opinion next week may increase po litical pressure on it due to its devastating nine-month war in the Gaza Strip.
