Gaza City: The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has accused the United States of being complicit in what it describes as a "war of extermination" in Gaza. The accusation stems from the U.S. government's advance knowledge of Israel's airstrikes on the region, which have resulted in the deaths of over 400 Palestinians, many of whom are children.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the White House acknowledged that it was consulted by Israel prior to the resumption of airstrikes and shelling in Gaza. This acknowledgment has led Abdul Latif Al-Qanou, a spokesperson for Hamas, to assert that it reveals "blatant American complicity and bias" towards the occupation. Al-Qanou emphasized that the U.S.'s political and military support for Israel makes it responsible for the ongoing violence against civilians in Gaza.
Al-Qanou further claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu violated the January ceasefire agreement to impose new terms for future negotiations. He maintained that Hamas has adhered to the agreement, while Israel has not moved forward with its second phase. He urged the international community to intervene and halt the bloodshed in Gaza.
Sami Abu Zuhri, another senior member of Hamas, echoed these sentiments, accusing the Israeli regime of seeking to undermine the ceasefire agreement and draft a new one "written with the blood of the people of Gaza," ensuring the surrender of resistance groups. He warned that Netanyahu's objectives would ultimately lead to dire consequences, including threats to Israeli prisoners held by Hamas.
