Tehran: Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi said despite being ready, Iran has no intention of starting a war in the region.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, speaking in a meeting with a group of commanders and personnel of the Army's Air Force and Air Defense Force on Sunday, Mousavi said although the targets of a regional war would be the aggressors, it would nonetheless set back the region's progress for years, and the US and Israeli regime warmongers will be held responsible.
In the past 47 years, Iranian people have witnessed the US' crimes, betrayals, deceptions, bullying, greed, domination-seeking, and inhumane desire for swallowing Iran, which has made this generation more serious, determined, capable, and resolute in standing against this wicked enemy, he added.
Earlier on February 2, 2026, Mousavi had stressed that the Islamic Republic was fully prepared to confront and gave a revengeful blow to the enemy, in case of any military mischief against the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Stating that the escalation in the region will have grave consequences for the US and its allies, he emphasized that the Iranian forces only think of victory, without any fear of the enemy's rumbling and apparent arrogance.
The Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces noted that Iran has proven over 47 years that it cannot be swallowed and suffocated, adding that those who have been blowing the trumpet for several months and promoting the proposition of a 'weak Iran' are now forced to either retract their words or receive a slap from Iranian power.
