Washington: US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that Iran is sending 20 oil tankers to the United States through the Strait of Hormuz starting Monday morning. This development was reported by Anadolu Ajansi.
According to Nam News Network, Trump made these remarks to reporters aboard Air Force One while en route to Washington, DC. He described the gesture as a tribute from Iran, suggesting it was a sign of respect. "And now, today, they gave us, as a tribute - I don't know, I can't define it exactly, but they gave us, I think out of a sign of respect, 20 boats of oil - big, big boats of oil - going through the Hormuz Strait, and that's taking place starting tomorrow morning," Trump stated.
Trump expressed optimism about ongoing negotiations with Iran, suggesting that progress is being made. He indicated that while a deal seemed likely, there was still a possibility that it might not materialize. "I would only say that we're doing extremely well in that negotiation," he said, adding, "I do see a deal in Iran," and hinted that an agreement could be reached soon. Trump also mentioned that discussions with Iran were occurring both directly and indirectly.
When questioned about potential military action, Trump mentioned that the US has numerous alternatives. He asserted that progress with Iran was ahead of schedule and highlighted a change in the Iranian leadership as a positive factor. "We're ahead of schedule with Iran. We're weeks ahead of schedule.and we have a group, it's really a new regime. It's a new group of people, people that we've never dealt with before, that are acting very reasonable," he noted.
Despite this, Iran had recently rejected a US-proposed 15-point plan to end hostilities, insisting that any ceasefire would be on Tehran's terms and timeline. When asked about Iran's response to his proposal, Trump claimed, "Yeah. They gave us most of the points - why wouldn't they?" He further emphasized Iran's commitment by mentioning the oil tankers as proof of their seriousness in negotiations.
