Trump Hails US Strikes on Iranian Nuclear Sites as Major Success

Washington: President Donald Trump has declared the recent US military strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities a "spectacular military success," following the unprecedented action taken by the United States. The strikes targeted the Fordo, Natanz, and Esfahan sites using GBU-57A Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs in the middle of the night, marking the first incursion of US troops into Iran since the 1979 Iranian Revolution.

According to BBC, President Trump emphasized the need for Iran to swiftly pursue peace, warning that the US would target additional sites with "speed" and "precision" if necessary. In a national address from the White House, Trump stated, "This cannot continue. There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran, far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days."

The Iranian authorities have yet to disclose the extent of the damage caused by the strikes. However, this military action underscores a significant escalation, as the US reached out diplomatically to Iran, indicating that no further regime change efforts are intended. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that he was informed of the attack in advance, reiterating the notion of "peace through strength."

The current conflict escalated on June 13 when Israel launched surprise attacks on Iranian nuclear and military targets, aiming to dismantle Iran's nuclear capabilities. In response, Iran fired hundreds of rockets and drones at Israel, with military officials reporting significant casualties. The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) has reported 657 fatalities, with missile attacks from Iran resulting in at least 24 deaths in Israel.
