Trump Ignores US Intel to Justify Attack on Iran’s Nuclear Facilities

Tehran: US President Donald Trump has willfully ignored his own director of national intelligence, who said Iran is not building a nuclear weapon, to justify his unlawful attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, says the Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, highlighted that President Trump disregarded the March 2025 testimony of his own Director of National Intelligence before Congress. The testimony affirmed that “THE IC CONTINUES TO ASSESS THAT IRAN IS NOT BUILDING A NUCLEAR WEAPON.” Instead, Trump relied on the personal analysis of an Iranian citizen from 2022, which Baqaei argued exposes the political, rather than factual, nature of Trump’s claims.

Iran maintains that it is not pursuing nuclear weapons, in line with a fatwa issued by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Despite this, the United States launched substantial airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities on June 22 during an Israeli-initiated conflict, under the pretext of preventing Iran from constructing nuclear weapons.

Iran responded with powerful missile strikes against Israeli targets in the occupied territories, forcing both Israel and the US to end the conflict by June 24.
