New York: Scott Ritter, a former UN Weapons Inspector in Iraq and former U.S. Marine Intelligence Officer, has cast doubt on the feasibility of President Donald Trump's plan to forcibly displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. Ritter argues that the plan, backed by the American-Israeli alliance, is unworkable and unlikely to be supported by Arab nations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ritter, who is also the author of "Dealbreaker: Donald Trump and the Unmaking of the Iran Nuclear Deal," discussed the complexities surrounding the controversial Gaza plan and the truce agreement's sustainability. He highlighted that Trump's plan appears to be more of a strategic maneuver to compel Arab countries to propose alternatives. Ritter noted that Egypt has stepped up to take responsibility for Gaza's reconstruction, while Saudi Arabia has shown willingness to provide financial support, marking the start of a negotiation process that the Trump administration may have intended.

Ritter also addressed the current ceasefire situation, expressing skepticism about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's ability to reignite conflict. He emphasized that another war would reverse any progress toward peace in the region. Furthermore, a survey suggests that over half of the American populace opposes the forced displacement of Gaza's residents, viewing it as part of Netanyahu's broader agenda against Palestinians, which Ritter dismissed as impractical.

In his analysis of past conflicts, Ritter asserted that Netanyahu's objectives in the war against Gaza, such as dismantling Hamas militarily and politically, were unmet. For a lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue, Ritter advocates for the establishment of a free and independent Palestinian state, equal in rights to Israel, whether through a two-state solution or potentially a single-state resolution. Without such measures, Ritter warns of continued armed resistance against what he describes as Israel's illegitimate occupation.
