Turkish intelligence announced the killing of a prominent leader in the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in a security operation carried out in northern Iraq. Turkish intelligence stated in a media circular today, Friday, that the leader in the Workers' Party organization / Azad Akinci / was in charge of the Makhmour camp in the separatist PKK organization and was included in the red notice on the list of those wanted by the Turkish judiciary. Turkish intelligence explained in its media circular that it was following Akinci's movements and was able to determine his location, so a group of Turkish intelligence took on the task of getting rid of him in a security operation in the Makhmour region in northern Iraq, 160 kilometers from the Turkish border. It indicated that Turkey is carrying out operations to combat the PKK organization, which targets forces and citizens and is active in several countries in the region, including Syria, Iraq and Iran. The armed organization is active in northern Iraq and uses the Qandil Mountains as a stronghold, as well as in many cities, regions and valleys, from which it launches attacks on the Turkish interior.
