Ankara: Trkiyes Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Kuwaiti counterpart Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad AlSabah have discussed the latest situation in the region in a phone call, Turkish diplomatic sources said. No further details regarding the conversation were provided.

According to TRTworld.com, tensions have been on the rise in the region following recent incidents. On Saturday, Kuwait reported that its army destroyed Iranian drones after they targeted a government facility and civilian vehicles on Bubiyan Island. The attacks resulted in material damage but no casualties, as confirmed by Defence Ministry spokesperson Saud Al-Atwan.

Al-Atwan stated that Iranian aggression targeted several vital installations, including a government facility in northern Kuwait and vehicles belonging to a civilian company on the island. Hostile drones were detected in Kuwaiti airspace early Saturday, leading to their destruction by the armed forces.

Regional tensions have been escalating since February when the US and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran. Tehran's response involved missile and drone strikes targeting Gulf countries hosting US military assets.

Pakistani government sources revealed to Anadolu that there is still no finalised date or venue for the resumption of direct talks between the US and Iran, aimed at ending their ongoing conflict. US President Donald Trump had previously mentioned that new negotiations with Tehran would commence, although Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei denied any such engagement.
