Kuwait: Two oil tankers have caught fire after hitting sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRCG) said in a statement. The IRGC reported that the tankers were attempting "at the urging of the US military to transit via an illegal route" in the strait before "striking mines and exploding." The vessels were forced to disembark their crews, and this information has not been independently verified.

According to Deutsche Welle, Saudi Arabia's national shipping company Bahri reported that two sailors were killed in an attack on one of its vessels in the strait on Monday. The company stated that its oil tanker, Sidr, was "involved in a security incident while transiting the Strait of Hormuz" on the evening of August 31. The attack resulted in the deaths of two Filipino crew members.

The Strait of Hormuz was a key waterway for the transport of oil and gas before the Middle East conflict began in February. Iranian attacks on ships have largely halted traffic in the area, though some tankers have managed to navigate through the strait in recent weeks.
