New york: Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs has highlighted that the threat posed by the Israeli regime extends beyond Gaza and Palestine, naming the United States, alongside Israel, as primary sources of instability and insecurity in the region. This assertion was made during a U.N. Security Council meeting addressing the Middle East situation, particularly focusing on Palestine.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, made a comprehensive statement at the U.N. Security Council meeting. He underscored the systematic brutality executed by the Israeli regime against Palestinians, which has resulted in tens of thousands of casualties, including women and children, since October 2023. Gharibabadi accused Israel of deliberately targeting civilians waiting for aid, calling it a premeditated act of mass murder and a defining humanitarian catastrophe.
The Deputy Minister further criticized the international community, particularly
Western states, for their inaction and complicity in the ongoing crisis. He emphasized that the support of these states has enabled the atrocities and hindered the Security Council’s mandate. Moreover, he condemned the expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank and the violation of Lebanese sovereignty by Israel.
Gharibabadi also accused Israel, with U.S. support, of executing unprovoked military attacks on Iran’s nuclear and civilian infrastructure, labeling these acts as severe violations of the UN Charter and international law. He urged the Security Council to take decisive action to enforce a ceasefire, ensure humanitarian access, and hold Israel accountable for its actions.
The Deputy Minister concluded by challenging the credibility of the U.S. representative’s attempts to justify aggression against Iran’s nuclear facilities, asserting that both the U.S. and Israel are the main causes of regional instability. He called for collective international action to pressure Israel to cease its
crimes, emphasizing the necessity of international legal order and the protection of civilians.
