Washington: The U.S. has refuted claims that its military forces were involved in the sinking of the Iranian intelligence ship, Zagros, in the Red Sea. This denial comes amidst reports from two American media outlets challenging earlier allegations made by a Saudi news source.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Newsmax and the Washington Examiner have cited a U.S. military official to clarify that the Zagros had in fact docked safely at the Bandar Abbas port in Iran, countering the claims of its destruction. The reports surfaced following an assertion by Saudi media outlet Al-Hadath, which alleged that the U.S. military, in coordination with Israeli forces, had targeted and sunk the vessel.

The Newsmax report emphasized that such misinformation is being circulated against the backdrop of rising tensions in the region, further complicating the geopolitical situation.
