British Prime Minister-elect Keir Starmer announced on Friday a number of ministerial appointments in the new government following the victory of the Labor Party.The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that Rachel Reeves was assigned Chancellor of the Exchequer, becoming the first woman to hold this position in the history of the United Kingdom. Angela Rayner was also appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Yvette Cooper as Secretary of State for the Home Department and David Lammy as Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.It added that John Healy was also named as Secretary of State for Defence, former Labor Party leader Ed Miliband as Energy Secretary, Bridget Phillipson as Education Secretary, Shabana Mahmood as Secretary of State for Justice and Wes Streeting Secretary of Health.As vote counting is still on in only two electoral districts, the Labor Party has won 412 seats, an increase of 211 seats compared to the 2019 elections, while the Conservatives lost 250 sea ts, limiting the number of Conservative representatives in the new parliament to 121 representatives.Source: Kuwait News Agency
