UN Raises Alarm Over Israeli Aggression in West Bank

Tehran: The United Nations has raised alarm over the ongoing Israeli aggression in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, marking the longest such deployment of the regime's forces in the area since the early 2000s, according to a senior UN official.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, UN spokesperson St©phane Dujarric, during a press briefing, highlighted the concerns of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) regarding Israeli forces' ongoing operations in the northern part of the West Bank. The spokesperson emphasized that settler violence against Palestinians and their property persists, with an average of almost five incidents occurring daily between February 11 and 17.

Dujarric noted specific incidents, including Israeli settlers severing agricultural water pipes in the Tulkarm governorate, which impacted the livelihoods of several Palestinian farmers. Additionally, he reported that nearly 40 Palestinians were displaced near Al Maniya village in Bethlehem due to repeated attacks from Israeli settlers over the past year.

The OCHA has documented that since the start of 2023, almost 2,300 Palestinians, including 1,100 children, have been displaced across the West Bank due to increased settler violence and access restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities.

The Israeli regime initiated an offensive on the northern West Bank last month, resulting in the deaths of at least 60 Palestinians and the displacement of thousands. Since the onset of the Gaza war on October 7, 2023, actions by the Israeli army and settlers have led to the deaths of at least 920 individuals across the occupied West Bank.
