New york: Despite the expiration of Resolution 2231 (2015) and opposition from Russia and China, the UN Security Council once again became a venue for Western exploitation; under the guise of a so-called "non-proliferation" agenda-and by pressuring the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Council's rotating president for the current month-they convened yet another fruitless meeting regarding Iran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, this meeting was convened at the request of the European members of the UN Security Council-despite disagreements between Russia and China and Western nations regarding the agenda concerning Resolution 2231-and has yielded virtually no results or outcomes. The UN Security Council Resolution 2231 (2015) definitively terminated on October 18, 2025; since that date, the resolution has held no legal effect or operational mandate.

Accordingly, the role of the Security Council under Resolution 2231 has definitively ended, and all provisions, measures, and restrictions related to the nuclear issue have permanently terminated. Despite opposition from Russia and China, the meeting was held following a procedural vote that resulted in 11 votes in favor, 2 against, and 2 abstentions.

This marks the third inconclusive meeting of the UN Security Council regarding this resolution. The Council had previously convened a similar meeting on March 12, 2026, amidst the second war involving the United States and the Zionist regime.
