Athens: UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, has warned against the 'Israelization' of Europe and criticized the continuation of ties by some European countries with Tel Aviv.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Albanese addressed an event in Athens showing solidarity with Palestinians, where she highlighted accusations against Israel of committing war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide before the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ). She emphasized the need for UN member states to refrain from aiding or assisting Israel until the Israeli occupation of Palestine, which violates international law, international court orders, and UN Security Council resolutions, ends completely and unconditionally.

Albanese further criticized European states for maintaining trade and security ties with Israel, including the sale and purchase of weapons and spying tools. She argued that such actions increase the security grip within European societies, undermine fundamental freedoms, and contribute to what she termed as the 'Israelization' of these societies.

In her remarks, she also referred to Israel's interception of the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla near the Greek island of Crete. Albanese expressed regret over the Greek authorities' cooperation with Israel in stopping what she described as a humanitarian mission.
