The US Department of Justice announced that a Pakistani citizen living in Canada was arrested on Wednesday and charged with planning to carry out an attack in New York City in support of ISIS. Mohammed Shahzeb Khan (20 years old) was accused of planning a random shooting at a Jewish center in Brooklyn on or about October 7, 2024, about a year after the / Al-Aqsa Flood / operation carried out by Hamas. Attorney General Merrick Garland said that Khan aimed to kill "as many Jews as possible." According to the indictment, Khan tried to travel from Canada to the United States, where he intended to use automatic and semi-automatic weapons to carry out the attack. He was arrested in Canada, just 19 kilometers from the US border. The indictment alleges that Khan told two law enforcement officers, whose identities he did not know, about his plans to create a 'real-world offline cell' of ISIS supporters to carry out an attack. He instructed them to obtain AR-15 assault rifles, ammunition and other materials to ca rry out the attacks, and identified specific locations where the attacks would take place.
