Washington: US Vice President JD Vance announced that the United States has transitioned into a "new phase" of its strategy against Iran, emphasizing economic pressure as the primary method to achieve American goals, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported. Vance highlighted this shift during an interview on The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, underscoring the significance of economic tactics in America's approach toward Iran.

According to Nam News Network, Vance noted that the US aims to maintain this economic pressure, which also involves increasing the availability of oil and gas to provide Americans with relief at the pump and in energy prices. This strategy is intended to exert considerable economic pressure on Iran, influencing its strategic decisions. However, Vance acknowledged the complexity of this approach, pointing out that Iran might retaliate with economic measures against the US.

Vance's comments followed the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) decision to add 10 individuals to its Iran-linked sanctions list. Earlier, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced plans for imposing the most severe sanctions in history on Iran. Bessent mentioned on CNBC that this approach involves collaborating with allies to achieve unprecedented economic isolation, marking a significant escalation in US economic tactics against Iran.
