Tehran:Hossein Taeb, head of Iran's Basij Organization, stated that the United States had accepted defeat in its military confrontation with Iran, following a misjudgment of Iran's resilience and the armed forces' ability to sustain the battle.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Taeb addressed a meeting in Tehran on Sunday, where he explained that both the United States and Israel anticipated a quick capitulation from Iran, expecting the nation and its Armed Forces to yield within days or weeks. However, Iran maintained its stance firmly.
Taeb highlighted that the US and Israel had projected that Iran would quickly deplete its ammunition and missiles, encounter economic turmoil, and face internal security challenges, thus forcing it to negotiate from a weaker position. These predictions, he noted, turned out to be incorrect as the US and Israel themselves faced shortages in ammunition supplies and air defense capabilities, including reduced stocks of THAAD interceptor missiles.
He further noted that Iran's missile operations grew more effective over time, with an increasing number of missiles reaching their targets in Israeli-occupied areas. As a result, the US and Israel sought a ceasefire via European and regional intermediaries, anticipating concessions from Iran.
Taeb explained that Washington and Tel Aviv eventually had to alter their strategy from direct warfare to relying on proxy forces, regional and international alliances, and economic pressure, especially after Iran gained complete control over the Strait of Hormuz. He described the conflict as a test of endurance, noting that closing the Strait of Hormuz had also inflicted significant costs on the US and global economies.
Citing polls, Taeb mentioned that over 70% of Americans felt the war with Iran yielded no substantial benefits, while imposing heavy costs. He pointed to rising diesel prices and transportation costs as additional economic burdens on American households, which were beginning to affect European countries as well.
Taeb urged the Iranian population to support the Armed Forces and bolster the country's deterrence capabilities, warning that any renewed aggression would encounter an unpredictable response.
