New delhi: China's President Xi Jinping is set to visit India over the weekend for the BRICS summit in New Delhi, confirmed by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday. This visit marks Xi's first trip to India in seven years, following his attendance at an informal summit with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mamallapuram in 2019.

According to Deutsche Welle, Xi Jinping will attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi from September 12 to 13, at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi. The visit carries significant diplomatic weight as it is expected to impact ongoing efforts to stabilize relations between India and China and enhance BRICS cooperation.

In addition to Xi's participation in the summit, Prime Minister Modi is anticipated to hold bilateral discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the event. These meetings are likely to further shape international relations and collaborative efforts among the participating nations.
