Sana'a: The Yemeni government has reported that 31 people have been killed in the latest airstrikes conducted by the United States and Britain in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, and other regions of the country.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Yemeni Health Ministry released a statement early on Sunday indicating that the death toll had risen to 31, which included women and children. Anees al-Asbahi, a spokesperson for the ministry, reported that an additional 101 individuals sustained injuries during the airstrikes.
The airstrikes occurred on Saturday night, with Yemen's Al-Masirah TV channel reporting that the raids targeted a residential neighborhood in the northern part of Sana'a. U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the strikes, describing them as 'decisive and powerful military action' against Yemen while issuing a threat of 'lethal force' if Yemen attacked ships on the high seas.
The attacks come in the wake of Yemen's Ansarullah resistance movement's earlier warnings this week to target Israeli-linked ships in international waters unless Israel lifts its siege of Gaza. Nearly two months after the Gaza war began, Yemen launched strikes on Israeli-linked vessels and later targeted positions inside Israel using missiles and drones, aiming to pressure Israel into ending its conflict in the Gaza Strip.
These Yemeni operations persisted until a ceasefire was established in Gaza on January 19. Yemen has now vowed to resume its pro-Palestine operations despite any obstacles.
