Tehran: A senior Yemeni official has announced that the country's armed forces are engaging in new military drills in the Red Sea, aimed at preparing for a potential confrontation with Israel and the United States.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of Yemen's Supreme Political Council, revealed on his X account that Yemen's armed forces are intensifying their readiness in the region. The exercises are intended to counter potential aggression from Israel and the US, as well as to prepare for the next stage of conflict.

Al-Houthi further stated that the drills also seek to challenge the blockade imposed on Yemen by Saudi Arabia. In a move to counteract this blockade, Yemen announced a naval blockade against Riyadh in late July, responding to Saudi Arabia's blockade and closure of Sana'a airport under the principle of 'blockade for blockade.'
