Karbala: The head of Iran's Arbaeen Headquarters has reported that over 3.5 million Iranians participated in this year's Arbaeen ceremony in Iraq.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ali-Akbar Pourjamshidian announced on Friday that the event saw participation from more than 20 million pilgrims globally, gathering in the Iraqi cities of Karbala and Najaf. Despite challenges such as extreme heat and heavy traffic, the ceremony was conducted smoothly, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Iranian and Iraqi search and relief teams.
Pourjamshidian mentioned the operation of over three thousand registered Mawkebs in Iran, at border crossings, and throughout Iraq. This was further supported by thousands of voluntary Mawkebs, which are traditional hospitality tents offering services to pilgrims. He emphasized that Arbaeen has the potential to unite people globally around a sacred goal, contributing to the formation of a unified Islamic community.
