Tehran: The International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism was observed with the presence of families of martyrs who have fallen victim to terrorism.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the event was attended by notable figures including Alireza Khodagholipour, Deputy Head of the Center for Political and International Studies; Nasser Seraj, Deputy for International Affairs of the Judiciary and Secretary of the Human Rights Headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran; and Mohammad Javad Hasheminejad, Secretary-General of the Habilian Foundation. The commemoration took place on Saturday morning.

Families from the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab participated in the gathering. During the event, victims of terrorism were honored, highlighting the significance of addressing the human rights dimensions and consequences of terrorism on nations.

A book titled 'Iran's Annual Report on Terrorism' was unveiled on the sidelines of the event, providing insights into the state of terrorism and its impact on the country.

The United Nations General Assembly designated August 21 as the 'International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism.' First commemorated on August 21, 2018, the day was established to honor victims and survivors of terrorist acts, support them, and emphasize their human rights and fundamental freedoms. The UN has emphasized supporting victims, addressing their needs, and involving them in efforts to combat terrorism globally.
