Tehran: The Secretariat of the Government Information Council has announced that the administration is taking steps to improve engagement and accountability toward the media. This initiative aims to facilitate journalists' access to officials and vital information.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the announcement coincided with National Journalists' Day, celebrated on August 8 in Iran. This day provides an opportunity to acknowledge the crucial role journalists play in reporting reality, a task that has grown increasingly challenging over the past year, especially amidst the ongoing war. The secretariat emphasized the dedication of journalists and media outlets who continued to work in the field under difficult circumstances, facing numerous risks and restrictions to deliver news to the people and Iran.

The statement from the secretariat highlighted the critical need for speed in reporting facts and the vital role of credible media outlets in the current complex media landscape. It underscored that restoring the credibility of news and media in the country is achievable only by trusting journalists, ensuring their access to information, and recognizing the media's professional role.

National Journalists' Day in Iran commemorates the martyrdom of journalist Mahmoud Saremi, who was killed in Afghanistan in 1998.
