Tehran: 'Khosoof' (meaning lunar eclipse), a symphonic musical narration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH) on Ashura day, took place on August 6, 2026, at Vahdat Hall in Tehran. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, 'Khosoof' is composed by Mohammad-Saeed Sharifian and is regarded as one of the landmark works of contemporary Iranian symphonic music inspired by the events of Ashura and the epic of Karbala. The composition blends orchestral and choral music to convey themes of sacrifice, grief, faith, and the pursuit of truth.
