Administration Serious to Support Technological Development: Pezeshkian

Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has highlighted the critical importance of wealth generation and industrial growth stemming from scientific advancements, noting that his administration is committed to backing the technological development in Iran. Speaking at a meeting on technological development strategies in Iran on Saturday night, the president referred to global economic shifts, particularly in the Persian Gulf region’s transition towards a post-oil economy, underscoring the necessity of transferring knowledge from universities to innovative and industrial companies.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the discussion encompassed global conditions in emerging technologies, the status of leading countries, as well as Iran’s position in this arena. Key topics included the prioritization of national technology sectors, fostering organic connections with allied and pioneering nations, and improving governance through the implementation of major technological projects to catch up with global advancements. The need for supporting the private sector to facilitate the establishment of large, competitive tech companies was also emphasized.

Pezeshkian called for leveraging successful experiences from regional and international organizations such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He encouraged the incorporation of proposals aimed at technological advancement and urged stakeholders to enhance educational quality by developing training packages in artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technologies for students.
