New delhi: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, particularly for friendly nations, and that any restrictions are targeted solely at adversaries.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi made these remarks during an interview at the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Summit in New Delhi. He emphasized that ships from friendly countries can transit the strait, provided they coordinate with Iranian armed forces for a safe passage.

Araghchi highlighted that many ships have successfully navigated the strait recently with the assistance of Iranian naval forces, and this will continue. He reaffirmed that the complete cessation of aggressive warfare is crucial for ensuring the secure passage of all vessels.

He also underscored that a military solution is not viable and urged the United States to recognize this reality. Araghchi noted that the U.S. has previously attempted military solutions without success and suggested that diplomatic engagement could lead to different outcomes.
