Iran’s Araghchi Emphasizes Diplomacy and Respect in International Relations

New delhi: Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi has expressed hope for the return of rationality to negotiations, emphasizing that Iran only responds to the language of respect. Speaking at a press conference with Indian journalists, Araghchi highlighted the current unstable ceasefire situation, stressing the need to maintain it to give diplomacy another chance. He underscored that there is no military solution to issues involving Iran and reiterated Iran's longstanding stance against succumbing to pressure or threats.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi emphasized Iran's openness to negotiations, provided that counterparts are serious and trustworthy. He expressed skepticism towards the United States, citing inconsistent messages from the American side and concerns over warmongers potentially pushing the U.S. into conflict. Araghchi reiterated Iran's disinterest in nuclear weapons, referencing the 2015 agreement confirming Iran's peaceful nuclear ambitions. He assured that Iran's nuclear program remains peaceful and transparent.

Addressing the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, Araghchi stated that while the strait is open for transit, ships from countries at war with Iran must coordinate with Iranian armed forces. On the topic of India-Iran relations, he expressed interest in resuming oil trade with India, which halted due to U.S. sanctions. Araghchi also touched on the complex issue of uranium enrichment, indicating a postponement in negotiations due to difficulties with the U.S.

Regarding regional relations, Araghchi expressed regret over some countries' ties with Israel but clarified that Iran has no issues with Persian Gulf countries, focusing its military actions on American interests. He acknowledged Pakistan's ongoing but challenging mediation efforts due to U.S. behavior, and appreciated China's past attempts to mediate between Iran and Saudi Arabia, welcoming any diplomatic assistance from China.
