New York:Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has dismissed the assertions regarding the expulsion of Iranian diplomats from the United States, describing such claims as indicative of desperation and defeat.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi stated that all Iranian diplomats who attended the United Nations General Assembly, except for one who left earlier, departed as planned. He expressed on his X account that taking pride in a purported fake expulsion is unbefitting for any head of a diplomatic corps.
Araghchi further remarked that the narrative of expulsion reflects desperation and defeat and contradicts the obligations of the United Nations host nation.
The Iranian mission to the United Nations also refuted the claims about the delegation's departure timing. The mission clarified that the delegation, led by Araghchi, left New York on Monday evening as scheduled, a plan communicated to the U.S. Department of State on September 17.
The mission accused the U.S. State Department of spreading unsubstantiated and trivial news, having achieved nothing substantive.
