Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has highlighted the Holy Quran’s advocacy for unity and friendship among divine religions and all people. Addressing a ceremony held to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Sunday night, Araghchi expressed, “Tonight, we have gathered with hearts full of love and respect to honor the birth of the Prophet of Mercy for all worlds.”
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi described the commemoration as more than a historical event, viewing it as a moment to reflect on the enduring message of kindness, peace, friendship, and humanity that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered to mankind. He further noted that the year 1447 AH has been designated as the year to honor the 1500th birth anniversary of the Prophet, a decision initiated by the Islamic Republic of Iran and approved during the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) ministers’ meeting in Istanbul in June 2025.
Araghchi emphasized that this occasion underscores the foundation of unity among the world’s Muslims, rooted in affection and love for the Prophet. He remarked that the Prophet of Islam, described in the Quran as the ‘excellent model’ and ‘mercy for all worlds,’ consistently advocated for noble morals, love for humanity, justice, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence.
In discussing Muslim solidarity around Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Araghchi brought attention to the plight of the oppressed and defenseless people of Palestine and Gaza. He asserted the necessity of striving for their salvation, highlighting that they are currently suffering from widespread crimes and aggression by the Israeli regime. He accused Israel of committing genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and ethnic cleansing, all occurring under the world’s watch.
Araghchi concluded by reiterating that the teachings of the Prophet of Mercy urge people to stand as advocates for the oppressed, resist injustice and aggression, and refuse to remain silent in the face of oppression.
