Enemies Seek to Sow Discord and Create Divisions Among Islamic Nations: President Pezeshkian

Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian, during his meeting with the visiting Head of the National Iraqi Alliance Ammar al-Hakim, has cautioned Islamic nations to be careful and vigilant about the enemies’ plots and conspiracies to sow discord among Muslims. During the talks with al-Hakim at the Presidential Palace on Sunday evening, Pezeshkian said that the enemies were seeking to create divisions among Muslims by raising divisive issues in order to advance their sinister goals.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian explained further that the Israeli regime, today, is being used as a tool of the United States and its allies in the crimes against Muslims, creating division and plundering the resources of Islamic countries. While congratulating the Iraqi politician on the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet of Islam and Imam Sadiq (PBUH) and the arrival of Unity Week, the President emphasized the necessity of solidarity among Islamic countries, which he called ‘a guarantee of the growth and development.’

Pezeshkian underlined that continuous unity and cooperation among Islamic countries in all fields will not only pave the way for development and progress but will fail the conspiracies of the enemies, including the usurping Israeli regime. Emphasizing the comprehensive development and consolidation of relations between Iran and Iraq in all fields, he also called for deepening strategic ties.

Describing the relations between the two sides as deep-rooted religiously and culturally, Pezeshkian underscored, ‘Geographical borders can never separate the two brotherly nations of Iran and Iraq.’ He also referred to the upcoming elections in Iraq, calling for political unity regardless of ethnic and religious differences, saying that Iran always wanted a unified, sovereign, and dignified Iraqi nation.

Al-Hakim, for his part, expressed his pleasure at meeting with Pezeshkian and commended Iran’s victory during the recent 12-day war with the Israeli regime, saying, ‘The Iranian nation, with its unparalleled brilliance, not only aroused the admiration of the Islamic nations, but also of all the free nations of the world.’ He described the level of political relations between Iran and Iraq as excellent but stressed the need for boosting the level of trade and economic exchanges between the two countries. ‘The historical, religious, and cultural ties between the two nations are a solid basis for enhancing the level of cooperation,’ he added.
