Araghchi Engages in High-Level Talks with Pakistan PM Amid Tensions

Islamabad: Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has initiated significant diplomatic talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, marking the commencement of his three-nation diplomatic tour. The meeting took place at Sharif's official residence in Islamabad, where discussions centered around bilateral relations and regional developments, particularly Islamabad's diplomatic efforts to mediate in the ongoing US-Israeli conflict against Iran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the meeting also saw the participation of Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar. The discussions included the exchange of views on enhancing regional cooperation and Islamabad's strategies to de-escalate tensions in West Asia. Prime Minister Sharif expressed his satisfaction with Araghchi's visit, highlighting the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation. He also recalled the recent visit of Pakistani Army Chief Asif Munir to Tehran, emphasizing the strength of bilateral relations.

The agenda included a comprehensive report from Sharif on his recent consultations with leaders from various countries, illustrating Islamabad's proactive role in mediating US-Iran talks. Araghchi's visit comes as part of broader efforts to consult with regional partners on pressing issues. After completing his engagements in Pakistan, Araghchi is set to continue his diplomatic mission with visits to Muscat and Moscow, as indicated in his post on the X network. The visit aims to foster close coordination with regional partners on both bilateral and regional matters.
