New York:The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan met with the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran and held discussions during the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi and Jeyhun Bayramov, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, convened on Tuesday alongside the General Assembly's activities.

The Austrian Foreign Minister also engaged in talks on the same day during the UNGA session.

This year's assembly, taking place from September 22 to September 28, sees leaders and representatives from 193 member states gathering to discuss significant global issues. Approximately 130 heads of state and government are expected to participate in the high-level summit.

The official theme of the 81st session is 'Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All,' highlighting the importance of rebuilding trust, strengthening multilateral cooperation, and adapting to new international challenges.

Key topics on the agenda include global peace and security, human rights, sustainable development, climate change, pandemic preparedness, and governance of artificial intelligence. Additionally, bilateral and multilateral meetings are being conducted on the sidelines of the main event.
