New delhi: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has emphasized Iran's enduring responsibility to safeguard security in the Strait of Hormuz. In a statement shared on his X account, Araghchi highlighted the productive discussions he held with his host, Dr. S. Jaishankar, regarding regional developments. He reiterated that Iran remains committed to its historical role as the protector of security in the region.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi further assured that Iran is a dependable partner for all friendly nations, emphasizing that these countries can trust in the safety of their commercial undertakings. During an interview at the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Summit in New Delhi, he underscored that the Strait of Hormuz remains accessible for ships from friendly countries.

Araghchi clarified that ships from friendly nations and others need only to coordinate their transit with the Iranian armed forces to ensure a secure passage and avoid potential obstacles. He also noted the successful transit of numerous ships through the strait in recent days, facilitated by Iranian naval forces, and confirmed that this process would continue to ensure the safe passage for all vessels.
