Araghchi Urges Global Action to End Gaza Crisis, Warns History Will Not Forgive Delays

Jeddah: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called for concrete global action to end the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, emphasizing that all countries should align with the right side of history that will not ‘forgive’ any further delay in alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian foreign minister addressed his counterparts in the Saudi city of Jeddah during an extraordinary meeting on the ongoing Israeli attacks against Palestine. Araghchi highlighted that the tragedy of Gaza is not just a concern for Muslims but a test for global conscience, urging all nations, irrespective of religion or geography, to stand for humanity, justice, and dignity.

Araghchi stressed the urgency of the situation, stating, “History will not forgive delay. Gaza cannot wait. The time for action is now.” The Extraordinary Meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers was convened in response to a request by Iran, sent by Foreign Minister Araghchi to the OIC secretary general on August 6.

In his speech, Araghchi painted a grim picture of the conditions in Gaza, describing the systematic massacre of people, the destruction of residential areas, and the dire situation in hospitals. He referred to the situation as an organized destruction by a ruthless apartheid regime, likening the assault to genocide.

Araghchi condemned the plans of the perpetrators to establish permanent military control over Gaza, which he labeled as ‘ethnic cleansing.’ He called for the mobilization of political, economic, and legal tools, including sanctions and boycotts, to ensure the withdrawal of occupying forces and accountability for war crimes.

The Iranian foreign minister also criticized governments that arm the occupying regime and shield it from international condemnation, stating that neutrality in the face of crime is complicity. He called upon the Muslim world to speak with one voice and transform from passive witnesses to decisive leaders.

Araghchi concluded by emphasizing the symbolic resistance of Gaza and urged for decisive action to support the people. He expressed hope that the meeting would be remembered as a turning point for strong leadership and unity in the Muslim world, urging global nations to stand on the side of humanity, justice, and dignity.
