New york: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a plea to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, urging the global organization and the UN Security Council to take action against the United States' recent economic measures targeting Iran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi's appeal was made through a letter published on Wednesday, and subsequently shared by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on its Telegram page. In the letter, Araghchi criticized the US sanctions and its efforts to prevent other nations from engaging with Iran, labeling these actions as a breach of the UN Charter. He denounced Washington's tactics as illegal, unilateral, and akin to "bullying."

Araghchi's letter implored the UN to denounce the US actions and uphold Iran's right to sovereign equality. He also called for reparations and the preparation of a report detailing the humanitarian and human rights impacts resulting from the US actions against Iran.
