Tehran: A member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament has conveyed Iran’s conditions for engaging in indirect negotiations with the United States, as stated by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi. The primary conditions include the lifting of sanctions and the acknowledgment of Iran’s right to utilize peaceful nuclear technology, which need to be fulfilled before addressing the snapback mechanism.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Yaqoub Rezazadeh, in a discussion about a recent meeting of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, revealed that the commission hosted Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Mohammad Eslami, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. The discussions focused on the negotiation processes, highlighting Iran’s missile capabilities as a significant factor in the talks, while also considering the nation’s defense strengths.
Rezazadeh further elaborated that during the meeting, Foreign Minister Araqchi disclosed plans for upcoming nuclear discussions with Russia. Additionally, talks between Iran and the European Troika at the deputy foreign ministers’ level are scheduled to occur on Friday in Istanbul, Turkey, to deliberate on the Iranian nuclear program.
The Foreign Minister reiterated that the preconditions for lifting sanctions and recognizing Iran’s nuclear rights are prerequisites for any indirect dialogue with the United States, which is expected to occur prior to the potential implementation of the snapback mechanism in October.
