Tehran: Armenian Ambassador to Iran Grigor Hakobyan has emphasized the expansion of railway and trade cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan. He highlighted that linking the two countries' rail networks would provide Armenia with access to southern international waters and offer Iran diverse routes to Europe. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Hakobyan made these remarks during a meeting with Jabar Ali Zakeri, the deputy minister of roads and urban development and CEO of Iran Railways. The discussions centered around the railway infrastructure of Iran and Armenia, exploring opportunities for expanding regional transport and economic ties. Zakeri highlighted the necessity for increased Armenian participation in regional transit routes, particularly the International North-South Transport Corridor. He noted that Armenia could play a role in boosting regional rail transit. The railway link between Iran and Armenia through Syunik is one of the infrastructure projects that Tehran and Yerevan are pursuing to enhance trade and regional transit.
