Tehran: Major General Amir Hatami, the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, has expressed admiration for South Africa’s firm stance in condemning the recent US-Israeli aggression against Iran. During a meeting with Rudzani Maphwanya, the chief of the South African National Defense Force, Hatami highlighted the shared anti-colonial and justice-seeking goals of both nations on the international stage.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Hatami commended South Africa’s resolute condemnation of the actions of the Zionist regime and the United States during the 12-day conflict initiated by Israel against Iran on June 13. He also acknowledged South Africa’s initiative in filing a genocide case against US-backed Israeli actions in Gaza at the International Court of Justice, describing it as a significant historical move.

Hatami emphasized the need for practical support for Gaza from governments and international bodies, noting the predominance of verbal over tangible support due to US and Western influence. General Maphwanya conveyed greetings from South Africa’s minister of defense and president, emphasizing the dual military and political nature of his visit to Iran, aimed at expressing solidarity with the Iranian people.

Maphwanya reiterated the common goals shared by South Africa and Iran, affirming their commitment to supporting oppressed and defenseless communities worldwide.
