Army Ground Force Clinches Iran Ice Hockey League Title

Tehran: The Army Ground Force team secured the title of the fifth Men's Ice Hockey League, known as the Makan Cup, despite losing 3-2 to M.R in the season finale. The championship-deciding match ended at 2-2, a result that was enough to guarantee the Army Ground Force the league crown with 35 points. M.R later scored a golden goal in overtime to win the match 3-2, but finished one point behind the champions with 34 points.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Arshia Ghafouri and Parsa Jalali scored for the Army Ground Force during regulation time, while Alireza Mahmoudi netted for M.R. Jalal Keyhanfar scored the decisive golden goal. At the end of the match, Alireza Mahmoudi of M.R and Danial Saroughi of the Army Ground Force were named the best players of their respective teams.

The game marked the final appearance of both sides this season. The coaching staff of M.R selected Jalal Keyhanfar as the team's player of the season, while the Army Ground Force coaching staff named Farshad Moghaddasi as their top player of the campaign. The Army Ground Force finished the season on 35 points to lift the title, while M.R placed second with 34 points. Ice Stars claimed third place with 18 points.

A closing ceremony attended by officials from Iran's Ski and Winter Sports Federation and the Ice Hockey Association was held after the match, with medals and trophies presented to the top three teams. The tournament was held under the name 'Makan Cup,' honoring Makan Nasiri, the missing martyr of the Shajareh Tayyebeh School of Minab, which was targeted in US-Israeli airstrikes on February 28.
