Tehran: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Commander Major General Ahmad Vahidi has stated that the assassination of Sunni cleric Molavi Yousef Gorgij indicates the failure of mercenary terrorists against the people of Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Vahidi, in a condolence message, described the killing of Gorgij as a sign of desperation from the United States and the Israeli regime. He suggested that their efforts against the southeastern province's populace have not succeeded.

Vahidi extended his condolences to the region's residents, offering prayers for divine mercy for Molavi Gorgij and patience for his family and supporters during this time. He assured that Gorgij's mission would persist and declared that those responsible for the assassination would face retribution.

Molavi Yousef Gorgij, the Sunni imam of the Mohammad Rasoulollah Mosque in Zahedan, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Monday night outside his residence. Gorgij was known for his efforts to combat sectarianism and promote unity, and he had been vocal in his criticism of Israeli influence.
