Australian PM Criticized by Iran for Appeasing Netanyahu

Canberra: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has criticized Australia’s decision to expel Tehran’s ambassador over allegations it organized “antisemitic” attacks in the country, saying Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is a “weak” leader who appeases Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi expressed his disapproval on the social media platform X, stating, “I am not in the habit of joining causes with wanted War Criminals, but Netanyahu is right about one thing: Australia’s PM is indeed a ‘weak politician’.” He emphasized Iran’s longstanding Jewish community, which includes “dozens of synagogues,” and refuted claims that Tehran was involved in attacks on Jewish sites in Australia. “Accusing Iran of attacking such sites in Australia while we do our utmost to protect them in our own country makes zero sense,” he asserted.

Araghchi further contended that Iran is being targeted due to Australian support for Palestine. “Iran is paying the price for the Australian people’s support for Palestine. Canberra should know better than to attempt to appease a regime led by War Criminals. Doing so will only embolden Netanyahu and his ilk,” he added.

The expulsion of Iran’s ambassador was announced earlier today by Australia, which accused Tehran of orchestrating two antisemitic attacks in Sydney and Melbourne last year. Iran has denied any involvement in these incidents.
